Shasun Chemicals is planning to set up an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) manufacturing facility in Vizag in Andhra Pradesh, with an investment of up to Rs 1000 million. It will have an initial investment of Rs. 350 million and will be scaled up over a period of 3 years. It will bring focus on bioequivalence (generic drugs produced though biotechnology) segment with the launch of its drug 'Streptokinase' injections, used in the cardio vascular segment. It has also ited up with Lupin and Alembic for marketing the drug in India.
